Johnson Woolen Mills
Johnson Woolen Mills has been producing rugged woolen outerwear in Vermont for nearly two centuries. The company's modern manufacturing facility is just feet from the original mill but many of the old processes remain, like hand cutting, piecing, and sewing their traditional patterned, checked, and plaid clothing lines. Johnson Woolen Mills has long practiced a no-waste policy. Every leftover piece of wool, string, or shipping pallet it put to use. Material extras are used for mittens, fanny packs, flasks, wool rugs, and other accessories. Some scraps are sent to local tailors that freelance for the mill from their homes and anything that can't be used is bagged and to be recycled or reused for yarn or insulating products. Johnson Wollen Mills produces a huge selection of wool jackets, shirts, pants, vests, hats, bags, mittens, rugs, throws, and wool fabric by the yard. It is all available for purchase online.
