Featured Company:

These are just a few examples of the beautiful recycled note cards, stationery and journals available from Acorn Designs.

For over 25 years, Acorn Designs has been a leader in producing beautiful and ecological bookmarks, note cards, journals, stationery, notepads, and tote bags. All products are made from high post-consumer recycled or tree-free agricultural papers such as kenaf. Here are some of the ways Acorn Designs demonstrates their commitment to environmental and social responsibility:

"We use the most ecological papers we can find...high post-consumer recycled as well as tree-free agricultural papers such as kenaf. We also consider the mill source to try to minimize shipping and associated energy costs. We use vegetable-oil based inks for printing. We minimize packaging but when it is needed we generally use cellophane bags.

Our shipping boxes are from recycled sources...in all our years we have yet to buy a shipping box for our wholesale orders (we do however purchase high post-consumer recycled shipping packages for our retail customers). Our packing material is always shredded reused paper from our office/studio. Our catalog and website feature a strong educational component in which we discuss the environmental benefits of our paper choices.

Our products themselves are also vehicles for environmental education...the backs of the cards and front inside cover of the journals contain information about the species depicted -- in many cases we try to tie into environmental stewardship.

We pay our employees a wage above that which our county has deemed to be a livable wage. We support as many causes with our products as we can through donations to non-profits or other social or environmental fundraisers.

We support many new artists through our products. We generally add one or two new artists to our offerings each year and we currently offer the work of over 30 nature artists. All artists are paid royalties on their sales. We chose to work with a relatively small local printer who shares our vision for environmental integrity whenever we can."

Sustainability Store is proud to feature Acorn Designs and we hope you will take a look at their web site for your next paper product needs.
